Established technology. Decades of industry experience. Practical solutions.

Gravel Lock began in New Zealand, where founder Grant Lewis spent over 15 years developing and testing alternatives to traditional road construction, dust suppression and maintenance methods.

James Davies brought that technology to Australia, combining it with nearly 40 years across road construction, quarrying, materials development and site operations.

Our approach is simple — understand the problem, apply the right solution and deliver practical, cost-effective results.

01 / 03 RDC Road Dust Control Creating hygroscopic pavements

Dust Suppression

A water tanker spraying a sunlit quarry road

Control dust. Retain moisture. Protect your pavement.

RDC is a specially formulated dust suppression and pavement maintenance treatment designed for longer-lasting dust control on unsealed roads and working areas.

Its moisture-retaining properties penetrate the pavement, helping bind fine materials, reduce airborne dust and minimise water cart requirements.

By maintaining a tighter, more stable surface, RDC can also reduce corrugations, material loss and grading frequency, making it ideal for mine and quarry haul roads, rural roads and industrial hardstands.

RDC

More than dust suppression. Protecting the pavement from within.

Gravel Lock RDC is a specially formulated treatment that penetrates unsealed pavement, attracting and retaining moisture rather than forming a surface coating.

By keeping fine materials bound within the road structure, RDC helps reduce dust, surface deterioration and pavement material loss.

Applied to existing roads or during construction, RDC improves dust control, reduces water cart requirements and helps maintain a tighter, more stable running surface with lower ongoing maintenance costs.

RDC · Road Dust Control

What RDC does to an unsealed road.

  • Moisture retention

Attracts moisture from the atmosphere and retains it within the pavement, reducing the need for frequent watering.

  • Dust suppression

Keeps fine particles from becoming airborne under traffic, improving visibility and reducing dust from vehicles and equipment.

  • Retaining pavement fines

Helps bind fine materials within the road surface, maintaining cohesion and reducing material loss through dust.

  • Reduced road maintenance

Maintains a tighter road surface, helping reduce corrugations, surface deterioration and the need for frequent grading.

  • Application using existing equipment

Applied using conventional water carts or spray equipment, with treatment rates tailored to site and traffic conditions.

  • Ongoing treatment and maintenance

Supports planned maintenance programs through initial treatment and lighter follow-up applications to maintain performance.

02 / 03 CSC Co-Polymer Soil Cement Creating super thin protective skins

Erosion Control

A Gravel Lock water truck spraying CSC onto a quarry batter, the white protective layer forming on the slope

Protect exposed surfaces from wind and water erosion.

CSC is a concentrated liquid polymer that binds loose material to form a durable protective layer over exposed ground.

Diluted with water and sprayed onto surfaces, CSC helps control windblown dust, limit water penetration and reduce erosion caused by rainfall.

Suitable for stockpiles, batters, embankments and disturbed areas, CSC provides temporary or longer-term protection across a range of soil and aggregate surfaces. It can also be used in hydroseeding to support moisture retention and vegetation establishment.

CSC

Bind loose material. Protect exposed ground.

Exposed soils, stockpiles and disturbed ground are vulnerable to wind and rainfall, causing dust, erosion and material loss.

CSC is a liquid polymer treatment diluted with water that penetrates the surface, binding loose particles to form a durable, flexible protective layer.

Once cured, this layer helps reduce windblown dust, water penetration and surface erosion while allowing limited pedestrian and light vehicle access, protecting exposed ground and reducing ongoing maintenance.

CSC · Co-Polymer Soil Cement

How CSC works, and why it matters.

  • Surface binding and protection

Penetrates and binds loose soil and aggregate, forming a durable, flexible crust that protects exposed surfaces.

  • Windblown dust control

Prevents fine particles becoming airborne, reducing dust on stockpiles, overburden and exposed ground.

  • Water penetration and erosion control

Forms a water-resistant layer that limits rainfall penetration and helps prevent surface material washing away.

  • Weather and UV resistance

Designed to withstand sunlight, wind and rainfall, with performance dependent on site conditions and application rates.

  • Hydroseeding and revegetation

Helps retain moisture and protect seeded surfaces from erosion, supporting vegetation establishment.

  • Practical application across different sites

Applied using spray equipment to stockpiles, batters and exposed ground. Once cured, tolerates foot traffic and occasional light vehicles, but not heavy traffic.

03 / 03 PHF Coldmix Pothole Fill Permanent pothole repair

Pothole Repair

A pothole repair in progress on a sealed road

Durable repairs. Proven performance. Built to last.

PHF is a high-performance, polymer-modified coldmix asphalt designed for strong, long-lasting repairs to potholes, edge breaks and damaged pavement surfaces.

Its advanced formulation delivers excellent adhesion, flexibility and resistance to traffic wear, even in demanding conditions.

Easy to apply without heating, PHF can be opened to traffic after correct placement and compaction, minimising disruption and repeat repairs. Ideal for councils, road contractors, utilities and industrial applications.

PHF

Durable repairs. Simple application. Long-term performance.

PHF is a high-performance, polymer-modified coldmix asphalt designed for durable, long-lasting repairs to potholes, edge breaks and damaged pavement surfaces.

Its specially formulated binder provides strength and flexibility to withstand heavy traffic and changing weather conditions.

Requiring no heating, PHF can be applied in temperatures from −5°C to +50°C and reopened to traffic after correct placement and compaction. With no VOCs and continued consolidation under traffic, PHF helps reduce repeat repairs, disruption and ongoing maintenance costs.

Technical documents

Simple 3-step application

Designed for the repair, not just the application.

PHF combines easy coldmix application with a high-performance polymer-modified binder.

Conventional compaction establishes a stable repair, while ongoing traffic further consolidates the material for a tighter, more durable surface.

More than filling potholes, PHF delivers lasting pavement repairs that continue performing long after application.

  2. PHF Coldmix being poured from a shovel into the prepared repair
  3. Worker compacting the finished repair with a plate compactor
  1. 1 PrepareRemove loose material and debris, and prepare the damaged area for a sound repair.
  2. 2 PlacePlace PHF into the prepared area and spread evenly to the required level.
  3. 3 CompactCompact using conventional equipment before reopening to traffic. Passing vehicles provide further consolidation over time.

Repairs up to 50 mm deep go in one layer. Deeper holes are filled and compacted in layers, finishing 10 to 20 mm above the surrounding surface.

PHF · Coldmix Pothole Fill

What PHF Coldmix does to a failed surface.

  • Adhesion and cohesion

Strong adhesion. A repair that holds together.

Polymer-modified binder holds aggregate together, resisting material displacement, surface deterioration and repeated traffic loading.

  • Compaction and strength development

Properly compacted. Further consolidated by traffic.

Conventional compaction creates a stable repair, with ongoing traffic further consolidating the surface while maintaining flexibility.

  • Temperature range

Ready for repairs from −5°C to +50°C.

Suitable for application in hot and cold conditions without the need for heating.

  • No VOCs

    No volatile organic compounds.

Contains no VOCs, avoiding solvent emissions associated with some conventional coldmix products.

  • Application and return to service

    Conventional placement. Minimal disruption.

Easy to apply using standard equipment, with roads reopened promptly after correct placement and compaction.

  • Long-term performance

    Durable repairs. Less repeat maintenance.

Strong adhesion and flexibility help resist traffic wear, reducing repeat repairs and ongoing maintenance costs.
